The one-day training session titled “Understanding Movement – Part I” was held at the Vidiyal Training Centre with the aim of deepening children’s understanding of the Vidiyal Child Rights Movement. The goal was to equip children with knowledge about the history and structure of the movement, enhance their leadership capabilities, and encourage them to actively participate in decision-making platforms at home, school, and in the wider society.
The session began with the VCRM Forum Anthem, creating a sense of unity and purpose among the participants. Mr. James presented the goals of the training, highlighting the importance of understanding the foundation of the movement and the responsibility that comes with holding key positions.
Mr. Gopal led the session on the history of the Vidiyal Child Rights Movement, tracing its journey and milestones over the years. This was followed by an engaging discussion on the future of the movement, its structure, identity, and goals, facilitated by young leaders and volunteers Mr. Gopinath, Ms. Meenatchi, Ms. Umadevi, and Ms. Nisha.

A session on the election process and participatory structure of the movement was conducted by young facilitators Mr. Janarthanan, Ms. Harshini, Ms. Viswakavi, and Mr. Suriyamoorthy, encouraging children to reflect on the value of democratic practices within their own forums.
After a short break, a fun energizer session led by senior volunteers Mr. Umar Faruk and Ms. Sandiya brought renewed energy and joy to the group.
In the afternoon, Mr. Anbu conducted a session on the Right to Participation, focusing on why children’s voices matter in every sphere of life. Mr. D. Arockiam followed with a discussion on the importance of children’s involvement at home, in schools, and in communities, encouraging participants to use their voices meaningfully across platforms.
The day concluded with a reflection session anchored by Mr. Baskar, where children shared their insights, learning, and renewed commitment to the movement.
This session served as an important step in nurturing confident, informed, and active child leaders who carry the spirit of the movement forward.
