The report release event for “Childhood Matters: A Collaborative Social Audit with Children” was held on August 2, 2025, at the Gandhi Memorial Museum, Madurai. Entirely led by the Vidiyal Child Rights Movement, the programme reflected the essence of meaningful child participation. Mr. M. Gopinath, President of VCRM, delivered the welcome address, followed by an introductory message by Dr. C. Jim Jesudoss, Executive Director of Sakthi-Vidiyal. Child representatives Kavya and Suriyamoorthy shared powerful reflections from their experiences in the audit process. Dr. S. Aasha, Secretary of Sakthi-Vidiyal, explained the background and significance of the report.

Young leaders Meenakshi and Vishal Kannan presented their insights, sharing how the process helped them become more aware and responsible. The social audit report was officially released by Ms. P. Premalatha, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Madurai District. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. G. Ganesan, Child Rights activist who was instrumental in designing the social audit framework for children.

Ms. P. Premalatha acknowledged the efforts of children and spoke of how such processes influence future policies. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Thamizharasi representing VCRM and Mr. Anil Godwin Kumar from Sakthi-Vidiyal. The event was a milestone in affirming children’s voices in civic processes.
