The 5th episode of the campaign on Boys Standing for Gender Equality was organized with a mini trekking at Thiruparangundram Hillock on 26th May 2024. Dr.C.Jim Jesudoss, Founder and Executive Director of Sakthi – Vidiyal anchored the day long programme and facilitated various sessions and activities. Our boys belonging to the Junior, Intermediate and Senior age groups participated with lots of enthusiasm and assimilated the key messages on gender equality. The mini trekking at the hillock was much enjoyed by the boys which enabled them to question the concept of ‘masculinity’. They could bring solid evidence of how our senses play a major role in grooming boys with ‘male’ ‘female’ stereotypes which impacts their lives heavily. Finally, each one of them owed to stand for gender equality within their family and in their living context with declaration on ‘I am a boy for gender equality, because…… The day ended at Thenparankundram with a game that taught them how to tackle adverse comments when they practice gender equality in their day-to-day life.
