On 23rd July the 24th Child Rights Festival was organized in a fitting manner at St.Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Madurai. The event began with flag hoisting by the leaders if Vidiyal Child Rights Movement. Children sang the song of their children movement. The carnival was much enjoyed by all children as it had lots of fun elements. The valedictory function began after lunch in which Master.K.Janathanan offered the presidential address on the theme ‘Let’s be the instrument of Rights’. The members of the Management Committee of Vidiyal Child Rights Movement presented their achievements in the past year in the form of a skit. Dr.C.Jim Jesudoss, Founder and Executive Director, Sakthi – Vidiyal delivered the introductory speech. Dr.M.Jeyanthi, Counselor, Central Prison, Madurai and Dr.M.Mannar Mannan, Programme Director, People’s Action for Development, Vembar, Tuticorinn were the Guests of Honour. Dr.S.Aasha, Secretary, Sakthi – Vidiyal gave away the cash awards constituted in the names of Mr.G.Shamnath Rajasekar and Dr.G.Gilbert Rajkumar memorial funds. Children released the annual magazine called ‘Athirvuhal’. Prizes were distributed to those who served in leadership roles in the children movement. It was followed by dance performances by various children forums. The play titled ‘Scapegoats’ was staged by the Children’s Theatre Troupe of VCRM. Mr.D.Arockiam, Director – Child Development made all arrangements.
